You were just 20 when you were part of the Sweden squad that came third at USA 94, playing alongside Tomas Brolin and Henrik Larsson. What did you learn?
It was more of a disappointment, as I didn’t play more. I didn’t feel like I could celebrate.
You have the bronze medal around your neck and you’re proud of it, but at the time I was angry. When the Champions League started in the autumn, I was hungry to prove myself.
After impressing at IFK Goteborg, some of Europe’s biggest sides wanted to sign you. How did you decide where to go?
I had a call from Kevin Keegan at Newcastle. I had a representative from Barcelona come to Gothenburg, and we also chatted to Alex Ferguson.
