Boom Essendon recruit Madison ‘Maddy’ Prespakis began playing Australian rules football at age four through the Auskick program in Romsey, north of Melbourne. There were no girls’ teams around when she reached competition age, but that wasn’t going to stop the robust midfielder taking on all opponents.

“When I played with the boys, I wore a helmet. They never treated me any differently. I magazine. “All the boys I went to school with used to throw me around and not be scared about it, which I think definitely set me up in terms of why I go pretty hard at the ball.”
