Mornings with Jesus

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

HEN I READ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE verse, it would be natural to think, (That’s a good start.) In fact, my husband, Andrew, and I bless a on this verse, what sticks out is the “as yourself” part. How can I go a step further and show love to people in a way that’s more meaningful to them—the way I myself like to be loved? Since charity (love) begins at home, I try to show this kind of thoughtful love in simple ways. For example, not clanging pots or dishes when my husband is watching sports, leaving the last one of anything for someone else to enjoy (especially that last cookie or K-Cup!), laundering my family’s favorite clothing with extra care, listening instead of talking—which includes holding my tongue when I’m tempted to criticize.
