N THE DECADE SINCE THE team moved from New England to California, they’ve climbed the ranks to be considered among the finest growers in the world. Green Dawg arrived in California in 2012 and spent its first few years bouncing around the Sierra Nevada foothills in places like Redding, Nevada City, and the Lake Tahoe region. Then, like many others, they moved south to get their ducks in a row for the era of adult-use sales. But they didn’t move just anywhere. They moved to Sacramento, California’s state capital—which is also home to some of the best cultivators on the planet. Names like Green Dawg, Alien Labs, Connected, Preferred Gardens, Lumpy’s, CAM, and Seven Leaves have Sac firmly established as one of the epi-centers for the cultivation of true exotic cannabis in the world. A lot of other heat grown north of the city makes it through town too. As the market continues to expand east and globally, more and more boofy mids are going to get pumped out. That makes what’s happening in Sacramento at this moment that much more special.
