Bonhams, Amelia Island
Amelia Island, Florida, has long been noted for its idyllic warm winter weather, sprawling beaches, and its seafaring history. It’s also been the home of the famed Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance — officially known as The Amelia — founded by Bill Warner. Like other storied automotive events, the concours is but one event on a multi-day schedule. Car Week 2022 officially kicked off on Thursday, March 3, when Bonhams began its annual auction on the sprawling grounds of the Fernandina Beach Golf Course.
This year’s sale was compelling, in that it featured three distinct segments that rolled into one another seamlessly, beginning with the sale of 74 automobilia lots that were followed by 51 vintage motorcycle lots, all offered at no reserve. As the motorcycle segment came to a close, the auction tent had welcomed a considerable crowd of in-person bidders and curious spectators alike, all gathered to witness the final segment of 84 vehicular lots.
