Wisconsin-based Mecum Auctions’ Kissimmee sale once again produced a record-breaking start to the auction season. The annual event took place at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, January 4-15, and ushered 4,000 cars across the block over the course of 12 days — an increase of 500 vehicles over last year.
The top sale of the event was a 1992 Ferrari F40, showing just 10,994 miles, that changed hands for $3.135 million. It was number 179 of 213 built for the U.S. market, and had been outfitted with a custom Tubi exhaust, though the original accompanied the sale. A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 landed in second spot when it sold for $2.97 million.
As with most every Mecum auction, several collections were offered. Notable standouts at Kissimmee included a pair of 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytonas from the Gary Edwards Wing Car and Mopar Collection that brought $1.43 million each.
