When I was a wee-lad the only battery-powered items in the house were torches and Walkmans. A set of double A's would usually suffice. Fast forward a decade and the common power tool, like a drill, was now available with a rechargeable battery. Fast forward another decade and gardening tools stopped blowing that beautiful blue smoke. Now, three decades later we have electric cars and wait for it… electric balance bikes for kids!
But before we even begin to discuss the Stacys 12eDrive, it's worth talking about the concept and popular rise of the child's balance bike because that in itself is ingenious!
WHAT IS A BALANCE BIKE?
Anyone born more than ten years ago probably never used a balance bike. The concept of a bike with no pedals isn't revolutionary, the first balance bike was invented in 1817 by a German bloke named Karl Drais but it was for adults. It wasn't until 2007 that the first of the miniature balance bikes by brands like Strider started to appear.
The kids' balance bike hasn't changed since its conception and today it is still a small, basic, lightweight single piece
