AVELING ARRIVES FROM ARGENTINA

PART ONE

New to the rally scene this year is James Allison’s superb 1909 Aveling & Porter XAC 4 nominal horse power 5-ton steam tractor, No.6781 and registered ME 1256, which has been seen and receiving lots of attention on the rally circuit recently.

The tractor has an extremely interesting history, despite details being somewhat vague. What is known is that the tractor was exported to Argentina when new, and worked for the Public Works Department in Buenos Aires.
