People are more cautious – in a good way. The pandemic and experiences of trauma are tilting what we’ve seen as normal upside down, making us wonder – why did we do things a certain way in the first place? And why are the Generation Y’ers so (2022) shines some light on the topic. Apart from their urge for instant gratification, their social media mania, the fact that the diversity of their social circles is paramount and that their Wi-Fi should connect automatically wherever they go, millennials don’t like being labelled. Being defined by the presence of another person in their life (a relationship status) scares them, and even more so in a time where we realise that freedom, intimacy, and individuality shouldn’t be taken for granted. Being single, even at an older age, unlike a couple of decades ago, is now completely fine.
