AGEING WELL WITHOUT COMPROMISING OUR LIFESTYLE OR LIFELONG FRIENDS

Over decades the Gay Pages has published numerous articles about living well, ageing gracefully, surrounding ourselves with people we care about, finding love and dealing with loneliness. Writers and philosophers have contemplated these perennial debates for centuries. Being active in the gay community since my teens and embracing all age groups from the start helped me understand how our choices influence our quality of life. We have the power to make a difference for ourselves, and opting to live without a support network is never a good idea. As social creatures, we find living alone or as couples may become more challenging over time. Our only defence consists of friendship, love, compassion, creativity and empathy.
