WASTE NOT

Kit Willow, the founding designer of KitX, has always incorporated environmental custodianship into her work. Thus, when her idea of a completely sustainable clothing boutique was green-lit by developer Beulah, she created Future From Waste Lab (FFWL) - a store and workshop that makes clothes out of recycled garments, putting start-to-finish production on display for consumers. With hopes of taking the concept overseas, she sits down with fellow Waste Lab designer, Artclub's Heidi Middleton, and Michael Elias, the Australian CEO of the store's textile waste supplier Upparel, to discuss why this innovative method of reinventing clothing from the past, born here in Australia and challenging our perception of waste, could be the key to fashion's future.
