NE of the things people say about hunting folk is that we are all philistines, our houses book-free zones. But that is not my experience at all. At the South and West Wilts there was a keen theatrical contingent overseen by a clever impresario called Anthony Speaight, who was more “high art” than “am dram” and something I won’t forget.
