Best Apps For Your SMART TV

According to the latest figures, 67 per cent of households in the UK now own a smart TV (www.snipca.com/42490). This means that two-thirds of us have instant access to streaming and catch-up services including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Prime Video and Disney+, to watch TV shows and films on our big screens whenever we want.

But just as we tend to use the same four or five apps every day on our phones, many of us stick with the apps that came preinstalled on our TVs and rarely consider trying anything new. That’s a shame because there are plenty of great apps available for smart TVs and streaming sticks that are easy to install. Admittedly, there are also a lot of awful tools, while browsing app stores with your remote control can be fiddly and frustrating.

In this feature, we save you the hassle and disappointment of installing rubbish by recommending 30 of the best apps to add to your TV. We’ve avoided obvious examples such as BBC Sounds, Now TV and BT Sport (which you may have already) in favour of apps you may not have heard of. Not only will these expand and enhance your viewing experience, but they’ll let you do more with your smart TV than you thought possible.

Paramount+

This new streaming service finally launched in the UK last month, priced at £6.99 a month or £69.90 per year, following a seven-day free trial. Paramount+ offers thousands of TV shows and films, including The Offer, a new miniseries about the making of The Godfather, acclaimed Kevin Costner series and the movies. However, its main attraction is every instalment of the franchise, from the original 1966 TV series through (pictured below) to this year’s (which is exclusive to the service), as well as all 13 films. Paramount+ is also available as a channel in the Prime Video app, for the same price.
