97 Francesco Versio 2019 Barbaresco. Truffle, toasted hazelnut and berry aromas come together along with whiffs of freshly cracked pepper. Elegant, tense and primary but already delicious, the linear palate delivers ripe Morello cherry, raspberry, star anise and ground clove while firm, refined tannins provide support. It’s well balanced, with vibrant acidity that imparts great aging potential. 2029–2044. Artisanal Cellars. Cellar Selection. —K.O.
