GEORGE wanted to shoot buffalo, elephant, sable and other plains game, so I booked him to hunt in Namibia, in the central area and Eastern Caprivi, and in South Africa. His wife, Liz, accompanied him.
We first went to my friends, Fritz and Jutta Hein near Hochfeld, to hunt kudu, gemsbuck, red hartebeest, warthog, springbuck and zebra. When we arrived, Fritz came out and greeted us with his usual “How are you; come in and have lunch, hunh”. He always ended his sentences this way. Fritz had two farms and there was plenty of game on both, particularly kudu and gemsbuck. George shot good trophies. Liz also shot kudu, hartebeest and warthog.
After a few days George got all the trophies available there and we moved on up to the Eastern Caprivi, to a camp on the eastern side of the Linyanti River. This is part of the Kwando/Linyanti/Chobe River and swamp area and is very interesting terrain, with flat, fairly open areas and patches of mopane and teak forest inland and swamps all
