How my dog SAVED MY LIFE

I have vivid memories of the first dog in my life, the one which started my lifelong adoration for our wonderful four-legged friends. My parents got Cairn terrier Smokey in 1973 when I was four and my sister Carol was six. He brought us so much joy – I remember a walk through the forest when he hurtled off into the undergrowth after a rabbit. I’d giggled at Dad’s exasperated face, knowing we’d have a long wait before our pup returned. When he died at the grand age of 16, we all sobbed for days.
