This month: Melody Gardot

elody Gardot’s love of music was confirmed by its therapeutic role in her protracted recovery from a serious road accident in her late teens. The American singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist’s subsequent career has resulted in on Decca. ‘We’re not just celebrating songs we love,’ she explains. ‘There are songs that he’s composed, songs that we’ve composed together, so we’re sharing the experience.’ She’s conscious of the album’s particular identity: ‘I wasn’t thinking about how to revisit what I’d done on earlier albums; I just wanted to be in a room with another musician and play.’
