Sizing up the MacBook Pro: Go big, small or Max?
With the introduction of all-new 14-and 16in MacBook Pro models, Apple officially moved every laptop it sells away from Intel processors, and now Apple has moved to the second generation of its own processors with the introduction of the M2 MacBook Pro.
Apple sells three MacBook Pro models: A 13in model with the M2 processor, a 14in model with either the M1 Pro or M1 Max, and a 16in model with either the M1 Pro or M1 Max.
Even though the M2 is the newer processor, the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors are still superior, and rather incredible, but these laptops are about more than just a killer processor. They’re full of great features like a ProMotion HDR display and the return of beloved features like HDMI output and MagSafe that make the 13in model, which still hasn’t gained either of these features, seem downright antiquated. So if you’re having trouble deciding which one to get, here’s how they compare.
