In a world where everything seems to be getting more complicated every year, I’m becoming a firm believer in the Simple Life.
The Oxford dictionary describes simple as “plain, basic, or uncomplicated in form; without much decoration or ornamentation.” Maybe it’s a sign of getting older but I’d like to think of it as just getting smarter, spending my time wisely and focussing on the uncomplicated and enjoyable things in life.
Simplifying my fishing has involved a complete change of mindset from years of trying to fish for just about everything to reducing the number of species I chase and dedicating more time and effort to those limited fishing styles. I guess you could look at it as down sizing but I’ve slowly moved away from some of the glamour fishing that was very seasonal and expensive, to concentrate on a few bread and butter species along with estuary and inshore sportfishing.
A further extension has been reducing the unnecessary distractions and time consuming wastage in my life so I have more time to dedicate to my fishing. In the past I’ve game
