s the news broke of a public consultation on imperial weights and measures and their possible reintroduction in some business settings in the UK, Twitter reflected on how Britain looked set to return to the past. With some political suggestions that this was a (@PippaMusgrave) pointed out that there had been “no EU directive [to change to a metric system]. It was UK domestic law amending the UK Weights and Measures Act 1985 and Prices Act 1974... the legislation to remove [the imperial system] was a UK instrument amending a UK act of parliament. It had nothing to do with the EU.”
