BACK IN THE DAY...

In its February 1971 issue, Motorcycle Sport expressed concern about the new emphasis on large, heavy, expensive, high-speed motorcycles, at a time when, the editors thought, bikes of reasonable size, price and adequate performance would revive a suffering industry. They felt that the so-called superbikes would attract negative attention from the public and the law and that they would be rich men’s toys, not the saviours that motorcycling so desperately needed.
