CLASSICS & TRUCKS ON THE PRAIRIE

The late Eugene Krueger was a petroleum industry engineer from Sidney, Mont., who collected a multitude of items, not the least of which were vintage cars and trucks. Aumann Auctions was tasked with selling his vehicles, choosing the Divide County Fairgrounds and Threshing Bee grounds on the western outskirts of Crosby, N.D., as the auction location. A preview was held on Saturday, May 28, the day before the live and simulcast online auction on May 29.

Lined up and down the rows of the grounds were a wide variety of cars and trucks, from parts cars dating to the 1920s to a modified 1985 Chevrolet C-10 pickup. The vehicles’ conditions ranged from recently redone through tired restorations and worn originals to parts cars. Among them were four Classic Car Club of America Full Classics, most examples complete and running, but in the case of a 1929 Cadillac Series 341-B, the engine, transmission and some other small parts had been removed in order to be reconditioned, but Mr. Krueger never had a chance to complete the project.

With a decent crowd on site Sunday morning, the auction started at 10 a.m. by selling many engines and parts. By 11:30, the auction staff was selling cars, with all 74 sold by 1 p.m. Leading all sales was a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu two-door hardtop sold at $26,000.
