Lucy Kent

LUCY KENT IS A CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE ARTIST, who focuses on light, colour and atmosphere, but she began her artistic journey studying at a traditional atelier, a portrait school called Charles Cecil Studios, in Florence. While she loved the initial drawing in charcoal, she struggled when it came to the painting that followed. With hindsight, she realised it was because students there were taught in the way of the Old Masters, using a limited colour palette. From an early age, Lucy had known she was a colourist, seeing and wanting to reproduce all the varied colour in her subject matter, so it didn’t sit well with her to have to restrict her palette.
