Wind the clock back to when Graeme was 20 years old. He had just purchased a jet-black 1969 Vauxhall PC Cresta as a daily driver; little did he know that over the next 45 years it would morph into the stupid-fast twin turbo fire-breathing machine it is today.
For a while he was more than happy with the car, and its 3.3-litre straight six. He had convinced himself it was perfectly adequate for transporting him from point A to point B, for now. Eventually he decided a couple more cylinders and a different exhaust note were required to make the mundane journeys somewhat more enjoyable, so out went the six and in went a small block Chev.
In the years that followed, Graeme would experiment with a couple of different engine set-ups, eventually settling on a twin turbo suck-through carburettor combo. At this stage, the rapidly improving Vauxhall still wore number plates and a WOF sticker and Graeme had just started dipping his toes in the local drag racing scene. He’d some success winning the Top 16 shoot-out at the Port Road street drags in 1998 and regularly pushed the ’60s sedan down the airstrip at Masterton Motorplex.

By now the car contained an all-aluminium 372 cube small block Donovan, fed by a pair of relatively small T04E turbos. The plan for Graeme was always to go faster
