Mustang race cars are nothing new in New Zealand, but there are few around that have the history of Craig Buchanan’s. While some of the car’s story has been lost in the mists of time, word has it the car has never been a streetcar, having rolled off the production line always destined for the track. While we can only assume that’s true, the history comes a lot clearer from 1979. As Craig recalls: “We know the owners back to 1979 when Ed Reinert purchased it. Most of the work was done on the car between 1979 and 2005. Jeff Kaiser then had it from 2005 to 2016. Then, Dennis Harsch — a Canadian living in Australia — purchased the car from Jeff. Apparently, he saw it in the US and kept in contact until Jeff agreed to sell it.”
