Good projected rainfall looks set to ease SA agri’s challenges

South Africa has experienced higher-than-average rainfall over the past three seasons, an unusually long period. Ordinarily, the country has one or two consecutive years of aboveaverage rainfall, followed by an average rainfall season, or even dry conditions.

The high rainfall has been a boon for the agriculture sector, with the past three seasons seeing large harvests, which boosted domestic food supplies and agricultural export earnings.
