The resurgence in popularity of farming sims has grown since the breakaway success of a brilliant and accessible RPG that lives on almost every platform and even has a board game rendition. At its core, it focuses on building both relationships with the local townspeople as well as expanding your farm business and exploring the local mine. takes this theme and removes some of the complexity of the system – isn’t a difficult game, but there are lots of options and your farm can be exceptionally intricate in its design and is overwhelmingly wholesome (in a good way!) so the witching elements aren’t overly dark or violent, more mysterious and maybe a little sinister. You can control the game via controller or touch, and both options are good. I would probably recommend using a controller if you are going to play often and regularly, but the touch controls are beneficial in some areas when you need to quickly select something. Gameplay is rarely quick or twitchy, so you aren’t going to find yourself fumbling for the right button. The game is fully voice acted, which is nice, and features an ambient soundtrack that has been mixed well on all platforms. There are plenty of little secrets and easter eggs littered around the place. I enjoyed the graphical style as well as how the game scales on different screens (I also tried it on an iPad and a MacBook). Well worth your time for a deep and enjoyable RPG.
