WHAT IS IT?
This brightly coloured amphibian is a newly described salamander, encountered by Panamanian scientists can be distinguished from its close relatives by its colour (pinkish flesh with flame scarlet speckles), the appearance of the webbing on its hands and feet, and the fact it has more upper teeth. The scientists suggest that it should be classified as critically endangered by the IUCN due to its restricted distribution and the high likelihood of anthropogenic pressure in the areas it inhabits.
