A new era for Southern Africa
The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) is having a growing influence on football in the region and the continent, and is set to stage eight tournaments this year, including the flagship COSAFA Cup in Durban from July 5-17. It is an organisation that has played a vital role in developing some of the region’s top talent in the past 25 years through its junior and senior competitions, providing a platform for youngsters from across this part of Africa to be seen. But newly elected president Artur de Almeida e Silva, who also heads the Angolan Football Federation, has big plans to take the organisation to the next level, which he says will be a huge boost to the game in Southern Africa. He sat down with KICK OFF’s Nick Said to explain.
