Tension
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles. To work a tension square, using 4mm needles, cast on 33 sts. Work 44 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely. Check your tension (see page 166). If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use larger needles.

Pip = M1, K1, turn, P2, turn, K2tog.
K3B = Knit next st 3 rows below – insert right-hand needle (from front through to back) into centre (through ‘V’) of st 3 rows below next st on left-hand needle, wrap yarn around needle and knit in usual manner allowing sts above to slip off needle (see diagram page 160).
