The North Yorkshire seaside resort of Scarborough has long been known as the ‘mecca for scooterists’ by many. It’s been the main north England destination for scooter riders since the early 1970s.

John Carter is a Scarborough boy, being born and bred in the spa town where his dad owned one of the largest and most iconic hotels in the North Bay. John rode the streets on his Lambrettas as soon as he could in the glam mid-1970s, meeting up at weekends and bank holidays with fellow scooterists
