She doesn’t like the word “brave” (she’ll take “inspirational” if she has to), but even she would admit that it takes guts to do what she’s done. I am, of course, talking about this month’s cover star, the gregarious Kerreand while that most definitely required nerves of steel, you’ll read in her honest and raw interview on page 14 that her journey has been so much more than that. But what those sequins and sambas did do was kickstart Kerre into a future that looks very different from the past couple of years, alongside a realisation that nobody else can make her happy or fulfil her – she must do it for herself. That takes guts and in her own words, “It’s changed my life.”
