Who can remember passwords?
Being able to run so much of our lives online is amazing. And never more so than when we were all locked down. remember. Which is why I wasn’t surprised when I googled the most popular password and found that it was 123456. Nothing else comes close. It’s also the case that lots of people use the same password for everything. Which of course is a big no-no. But the alternative is constantly trying to remember random words and numbers for this or that password. And let’s face it, who can do that? Certainly not me! I’m forever clicking on the lost password button, then going through the laborious process of setting yet another combination of letters, numbers and !?@#$. But (and here’s the weird part) I have absolutely no trouble reciting the home phone number of my best friend from school. Sue and I were at school a long time ago, so there were only six numbers to dial, but they are embedded in my brain. A quick survey of the team confirmed that I was not alone in having a fabulous memory for useless numerals. Even our younger team members could rattle off their old school friends’ phone numbers at will. But poor Amber W went one step further, easily reciting the 10 digits she used to press to speak with her ex-boyfriend. Now newly engaged to the love of her life, Dean, Amber really has desire to give any of her precious brain space to an old flame. ‘But what can I do?’ she laughed.
