“I’ve been through a few office computers over the years, but I always kept my trusted keyboard”
I’m currently mourning the loss of a wonderful work colleague. We went through a lot together over the years, yet we always managed to get things done without issue or complaint. I couldn’t have wished for a better companion, and I really don’t know how I’m going to cope. It’s the guilt, you see; the guilt I feel because I’m to blame for this tragic passing. Yes, I confess to you now: I killed my keyboard.
My dearly missed friend was a Compaq keyboard I acquired on one of the first jobs I did after starting my business. The job was a complete office upgrade that included PCs and a server, with the old equipment being decommissioned and recycled. The company was happy for me to keep any peripherals I thought might be useful, so I took a few keyboards. One of them duly found a place on my desk, and has stayed there ever since.
