The day of the TA test (a Belgian deer dog examination) was fast approaching for four of our dogs, but as we had discovered during our previous practice session in Udler in Germany (A rush to get on track, 4 May), our canine students were far from ready to be judged.
Pandemic restrictions had resulted in a lack of real-life training opportunities over the previous 12 months and the consequences were obvious: none of the dogs could follow a track successfully.
