MATERIALS

Gretel

• 23 x 30cm (9 x 12in) skin-tone felt (doll body and face)
• 15 x 23cm (6 x 9in) light yellow felt (hair)
• 13 x 20cm (5 x 8in) light blue felt (dress)
• 5 x 15cm (2 x 6in) white felt (apron and dress bodice)
• Scrap of black felt (shoes and eyes)
• 15cm (6in) of 1cm ( 3/8in) wide white cotton lace (dress trim)
• Amber seed beads (dress)
• One small hook and eye (dress)
• One small press-stud (apron)

Hansel

• 23 x 30cm (9 x 12in) skin-tone felt (doll body and face)


• 15 x 23cm (6 x 9in) light brown felt (hair)
• 15 x 20cm (6 x 8in) brown felt (shorts)
• 15 x 23cm (6 x 9in) tan felt (hat)
• 9 x 15cm (3 1/2 x 6in) white felt (shirt)
• Scraps of black and light blue felt (shoes, eyes and hatband)
• Three small press-studs (shorts)
• One small hook and eye (shirt)
• Two tiny blue buttons (shorts)

Both dolls

• Stranded embroidery cotton in colours to match each felt plus pink (mouths)
• Pink coloured pencil (cheeks)
• 8 x 15cm (3 x 6in) brown felt (basket)
• Scraps of assorted coloured felts (sweets and biscuits)
• Flat toothpicks
• Craft glue
• Doll needle
• Template plastic
• Water-erasable fabric-marking pen
• Fibre fill
• General sewing supplies

Finished sizes: Gretel 25cm (10in); Hansel 27cm (10 3/4in) with hat

Stitches used: Blanket stitch, cross stitch, detached chain (lazy daisy) stitch, ladder stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, stem stitch, straight stitch, whip stitch

Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. Seam allowances are not required as the felt does not fray — cutting and sewing lines are the same. One strand of matching embroidery
