Advantage KdF
Probably the rarest of the known KdF Wagen sales literature is a very attractive, undated and untitled brochure that was thought to have been printed in Berlin in or around 1940 by the department of the German Labour Front that assumed responsibility for financing and marketing the new ‘people’s car’.
The original version shown here – one of only a couple of original copies known in the VW hobby / collector world – was obtained from an elderly collector in Berlin many years ago. He worked in the print shop. The reason for that is unknown, but it may have been due to the prevailing requirements of the time that said traditional German words must be used instead of those derived from foreign languages. For example, the French word limousine was used instead of the German equivalent to describe the two different models available – one with and one without a , or sunroof. Likewise, halt, start and radius, all of which curiously used the English versions.
