In the hope of off-roading

THE phrase “don’t call us, we’ll call you” is echoing around my head, as I have now been waiting weeks for a call back from a certain garage which had previously agreed to rebuild the Lightweight’s carburettor. I have called so many times it’s actually embarrassing. I can’t call again and I’m no longer really expecting a call back.

The problem is not so much the Lightweight – although that too is increasingly viewed as too much work for mechanics who fall both within my budget and geographical area – but its owner…
