TRAPPING TROUT

I began trout fishing 66 years ago and like many others who wield a fly rod, I started my angling journey as a spin fisher. However, almost from the very beginning, I was a sight fisher. I learned very early that while I caught a few fish when casting far out into a river or lake I saw an equal number cruising very close to the shore. I quickly became attracted to these fish that fed almost at my feet, attracted mostly because they were so excitingly visible.
