The approach to the garden has been one of restoration and quiet evolution

When they took on Donadea Lodge ten years ago, Tony and Wendy Lander were looking for a new and exciting challenge. Based in Manchester, Tony was coming to the end of a rewarding career in the fire service and Wendy had recently lost her father. Both felt it was time for a change. They were fans of the TV programme Escape to and, inspired by this, set about seeking their own little bit of rural paradise. When they came across Donadea Lodge the house required modernisation and refurbishment, but as Wendy maintains: “I fell in love with the garden and that’s what sold us the house!”
