“Islam was political or it was nothing” – a statement once famously quipped by Ayatollah Khomeini. Sadly, even in Christendom, it seems to be the view that if Christianity isn’t political, then it is nothing. Not only is this unhelpful, but a major concern is that hermeneutics and faithful exegesis have become victims in this crusade. To be sure, Christianity is holistic and Jesus Christ is Lord of all, but on what does He want His church to be primarily focused?
