Supermarket sweep

Squeezing into my work uniform, I pulled my top over my stomach before looking in the mirror.
‘I’m ready,’ I called to my mum, Gail, then 42, posing in my Co-op branded jumper.
At 16, Mum thought it would be a good idea for me to get a Saturday job, saving me from raiding the snack cupboards at the weekend.
As my friends played sports, I snacked on packets of doughnuts and Galaxy chocolate, already topping the scales at a size 18.
By stepping out of my comfort zone and standing on my feet all day, I hoped the temptation to snack would be go from of my mind.
Only, as I watched local customers stock up of bars of caramel chocolates and unloaded the stockroom of sugary delights,
