’55-to-’56 T-Bird improvements

I liked the article “Surprised by a ’Bird” in the May 1 issue and the story behind the 1956 Thunderbird featured in it. It’s great to know the history behind a particular car, especially when there are family ties.

The other comment I wanted to share was about the major differences in the 1955 and ’56 T-Birds. One distinguishing difference being that 1955 T-Birds didn’t have the much needed (to me) vents on the front fenders. And, under the hood was a 12-volt battery in a ’56, whereas there was a 6-volt battery in ’55. Another big plus!

I always look for to the arrival of Old Cars magazine, which is read cover to cover.
