Women Designs Considered by CCAC

Evaluating designs of prominent United States women was the task at hand when the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) met by teleconference April 19. The committee, which advises the Secretary of the Treasury on coin themes and designs, considered candidate designs for the five American Women quarters that will be released next year as well as the 2023 Native American dollar.

The American Women program consists of five quarters each year with reverse designs that are emblematic of prominent American women starting in 2022 through 2025. The women to be featured on these quarters are selected in accordance with a process approved by the Secretary that includes consultation with the Smithsonian Institution’s American Women’s History Initiative, the National Women’s History Museum and the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus.
