THERE’S A UNIQUE TEXTURE OF POWDER DUSTING THE MOUNTAIN THAT’S KNOWN AS “CHAMPAGNE SNOW”

DESTINATION

STEAMBOAT, Colorado

t Steamboat Ski Resort, there is a unique texture of powder dusting the mountain known as “champagne snow”. The low water content – at just six per cent – makes the snow effervescent and fluffy, laying the foundations for grand cru ski conditions. With a gondola ferrying skiers and snowboarders from the base to mid-mountain, 18 lifts and 165 trails, there are endless adventures to be had. Lodgings include luxurious ski-in, ski-out homes with fireplaces and hot tubs, such as Ski Trail Lodge, or try the homes at One Steamboat Place. There are also simpler accommodations for those more focused on the action. At the base of the mountain, the Steamboat Mountain Village has lots of casual places to eat, drink and catch some live music most afternoons..
