SEEKING RELIEF

OFTEN WE TALK ABOUT THE HEALING remedies found in medical cannabis, but veterans are also finding relief in the psychedelic side of other alternative plant medicine. Jesse Gould is a three-time combat army ranger and the founder and president of the Heroic Hearts Project. Through the project he founded in 2017, Gould has been guiding veterans towards psychedelic therapies with ayahuasca.

Gould was deployed as an army ranger in Afghanistan on three different tours. His organization Heroic Hearts promotes the acceptance and use of ayahuasca therapy to address the current mental health crisis among veterans. With Heroic Hearts, Gould and his team have helped shape treatment programs and spread awareness of ayahuasca vine with the leaves of the shrub, and has been used in spiritual ceremonies in South America for thousands of years.
