Equipped to make the best choices

As the end of the hedge-laying season draws near, jobs that have been put off until later become pressing. Richard Gould and I struggled for what seemed like weeks with a rough old Norfolk farm hedge. Neglected for years, it was a laborious job and the balmy weather necessitated rolled-up sleeves. Our arms trickled red from countless lacerations. I returned home tired, dusty and bloody, wanting nothing more than a bath, dinner then bed.
