Going wild for a first taste of sport

Countryfile will never truly reflect the working countryside I know. Nor, for that matter, will Springwatch represent nature as anything other than Disney-fied and cuddly.
The shows are flagship offerings in rural affairs and natural history from our national broadcaster. They are responsible for moulding and shaping the minds of millions of young people about the natural world and where our food comes from. To my mind, the producers have failed in that task.
Social media is similarly a minefield for young people. Random photographs of destroyed hedges or dead birds, spurious statistics and celebrities jumping on wildlife-inspired bandwagons
