Ivana Taylor Lines of Affection

JamFactory at Adelaide Railway Station Until 27 June 2022

South Australia

Ivana Taylor presents a selection of continuous textile loop sculptures that explore the rhythmic and meditative process of wrapping and the expressive presence of a single line, carving movement, relationship, and experience into a formerly empty space. Swathed in hand-dyed linen and cotton, Taylor’s soft sculptures bring her playful observation of how interlacing, weaving, knotting, and stitching can interact with and reconfigure rigid forms and structure: “to create a visual and physical rhythm and a gentle, sensual tactility that feeds the eyes [as] much as the sense of touch.”

Yayoi Kusama THE SPIRITS OF THE PUMPKINS DESCENDED INTO THE HEAVENS

Art Gallery of South Australia Until 30 April 2023

Adelaide

“The world I see is endless space.” – Yayoi Kusama, 2015.

Known for her polka dot and mirrored installations, Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama creates magical worlds where endless possibilities immerse the viewer in infinite imaginations of space and visual wonder; populated by repetitious workings of dots, eyes, nets, flowers, and pumpkins that evoke sensory visual illusions.

THE SPIRITS OF THE PUMPKINS DESCENDED INTO THE HEAVENS explodes with a lashing of bright yellow, black polka dots, and illuminated pumpkin sculptures.
