    Why It’s home to a certain royal who will be celebrating 70 years on the throne this year – the first British monarch to do so. Her Majesty the Queen regularly takes up residence at Windsor Castle, and there will be a series of events for the Platinum Jubilee in and around the historic town.

    Blessed with a scenic riverside setting, Windsor’s postcard prettiness extends to the 500-acre Great Park, a former Norman hunting forest. Today it includes a deer park, woods, gardens and wild grasslands, perfect for strolls and picnics. You can also visit the castle, as parts are open to visitors all-year round – the tour includes St George’s Chapel, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in 2018.
